HTC Bolt to be launched as ‘HTC 10 evo’

  • HTC’s anticipated mid-range smartphone, called the HTC Bolt, will now launch under a different moniker globally. The company has been long rumored to be working on a new smartphone and earlier this month, images of the purported smartphone were leaked online.
  • Now the latest information from reliable leakster Evan Blass indicates that the new smartphone will instead be sold as HTC 10 evo when it is released in late October.
  • The HTC 10 evo is said to have a bigger display as compared to the original HTC 10.
  • The HTC 10 features a 5.2-inch Quad HD display while the HTC 10 evo is likely to come with a 5.5-inch display, but with lower 1080p resolution.
  • According to speculations, the newest smartphone will run the older Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. If true, selection of Snapdragon 810 processor is bit surprising considering that the dated chipset was heavily criticized for overheating.
  • Moreover, we already have a lot of smartphones like the LeEco Le Max 2 and Moto Z running Qualcomm’s better and improved 820 processor. The smartphone will come with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
  • After Motorola, LeEco and Apple, HTC is the next smartphone maker to do away with the 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • With the HTC 10 evo, the company is expected to introduce a headphone jack-free full-metal body smartphone that will draw inspiration from the HTC 10 in terms of design, and feature antenna lines like its predecessor.
  • One interesting element that will feature in the smartphone without a headphone jack is perhaps the HTC BoomSound audio-enhancing tech which will only be available through headphones.
  • As the smartphone does not feature the regular headphone jack, it is likely that HTC will offer either LeEco’s propriety Type-C based CDLA headphones or bundle a Type-C to 3.5mm connector to allow users to insert regular headphones.
  • The HTC 10 evo will come with an 18-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. It seems HTC is not the latest trends with a dual-camera setup just yet, though it was among the first ones to launch dual cameras on smartphones.
  • The HTC 10 evo is expected to offer 64GB of onboard storage that will be further expandable.
  • Based on the leaked images, it seems the smartphone will not come with a hybrid slot for memory card or SIM but offer separate slots that will allow users to use a second SIM as well as insert a microSD card to boost storage simultaneously.
  • The smartphone features an oval home button, which is likely to come embedded with a fingerprint sensor.
  • Based on the leaked images of the purported smartphone, all that can be said is it will carry further the standard design of the HTC smartphones but bring in subtle improvements and new features.
  • Given the speculated features, the HTC 10 evo is unlikely to turn heads because most of the features are available in a lot of competing devices.
