- Samsung not only took longer than expected to roll out Android Marshmallow update to its flagship devices, but also missed out some of its popular mid-range handsets.
- The company is yet to seed the 2015 firmware to some of its devices, and this has cast doubt on whether Google's new operating system Android 7.0 Nougat update will come to handsets like Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A9, Galaxy J5, Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7 and others.
- Android 7.0 Nougat has already been released to Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Android One.
- However, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) are yet to start rolling out the OS to their devices.
- The South Korean technology giant is yet to announce the list of devices that will get Android 7.0 Nougat update, but several reports have claimed that the firmware will come to Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 edge+, S6 Active, S6 Ironman edition, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Active, S7 Batman edition, and S7 Olympic edition.
- Now, the question is whether the company will seed the firmware to some of its popular handsets like Galaxy A5 (2016), Galaxy A7 (2015), Galaxy A7 (2016), Galaxy A8, Galaxy A9, Galaxy A9 Pro, Galaxy J5 (2016), Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy On7, Galaxy C5, and Galaxy C7. Samsung hasn't uttered a word if these devices will get the firmware, but they are very likely to get it.
- However, it may take time for these devices to get the Android 7.0 Nougat update, and it can run into the second half of 2017.
- Android 7.0 Nougat has features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, Extra power efficiency, Google Assistant, VR interface, clear all, data saver, improved file browser, improved Java 8 language support, instant apps, app switch, seamless updates, screen zoom, bundled notifications, and new emojis.
